The ECG-P2 is a small controller board for E1.31 / ArtNet II input and pixel output.
The ECG-P2 controller is a 10/100base-T Ethernet based unit. It also includes USB connectivity for configuration and field upgrading of the firmware. The ECG-P2 is programmed with our own Universal Boot Loader (UBL) and the application firmware can be field upgraded.
The ECG-P2 is designed to provide the digital level signals for 2 different pixel strings using serial pixel protocols (SPI and Manchester Encoded). Each string can be composed of up to 4 DMX universes of pixels (4x 170 = 680).
The ECG-P2 can be powered by 5VDC or 7VDC-36VDC based on user applied jumper settings. The user can also supply power over the Passive POE (P-POE) pairs of a standard ethernet cable. For some small pixel string fixtures the onboard 5VDC switching regulator can provide up to 1A of DC power for the pixels.
For sequencer Ethernet connectivity the software supports the E1.31 protocol and the ArtNet II protocol. Pixel string protocols are implemented in software. Initial support of WS2801, LPD6803, and TM180x is fully functional. Additional protocols can be implemented as demand warrants and time allows.
The software allows for configuration, on a string by string basis, of the string protocol and SPI or ME clock speed to match the users needs. The two string protocols are totally independent.
There is a set of configurable controller effects (null pixels, reverse string, RGB translation, pixel grouping) and more will be added in future updates.
All configuration is done via HTML pages or by an optional simpleXML configuration screen for rapid configuration and/or backup and restore of a configuration.
Each string is limited to the contents of up to a 4 universes with each universe limited to 170 pixels.
